Travelers to the United Kingdom will endure a 14-day quarantine in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The new quarantine procedure applies to anyone arriving in the UK from any country apart from the Republic of Ireland.
The guidelines have been conveyed by the government to all the airlines operating in the country coming in from abroad.
The new restriction is expected to take effect at the end of May and requires incoming travelers to self-isolate at a private residence.
It is not clear how long the restriction would be in place and whether non-UK residents would be allowed to stay in rented private accommodation.
There is no clarification regarding travelers arriving to the UK via Eurostar and P&O ferries.
Key workers such as lorry drivers who transport goods and people working in the shipping industry is believed to be exempt.
