Diana Ross has cancelled her “Star of the Seas” godmother role due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The ship’s naming ceremony is scheduled to take place on August 20th in Port Canaveral.
The 81-year-old is set to embark on her ‘Beautiful Love’ U.S. tour on Aug. 16 2025. The second date of the tour, however, is scheduled for Aug. 28th in St. Louis, so there was seemingly no conflict between the upcoming tour and her appearance aboard Star of the Seas.

Domestic violence charges dropped against boxer Gervonta Davis
Gervonta Davis’s domestic violence charges have been dropped over an incident with his ex-girlfriend.
A misdemeanor battery charge has been discharged by the Miami-Dade County Clerk’s Office when the 30-year-old American boxer’s girlfriend declined to prosecute Davis.
The southpaw boxer had been involved in an incident on Father’s Day outside the home of his ex girlfriend, who he has two children with, and was arrested on July 11 in Miami Beach.
The unbeaten world lightweight boxing champion is 30-0 with one draw and 28 knockouts. His most recent fight was a controversial majority draw against Lamont Roach in New York last March in which Davis held on to his WBA lightweight crown.

Prince Andrew’s lack of royal status detailed
Authour Andrew Lownie is working on a book entitled “The Rise And Fall Of The House Of York”. He has spent four years working on the book in which he has submitted hundreds of Freedom of Information requests to government departments.
The prince continue to attract a huge amount of attention, making him a difficult distraction for the Royal Family.
Mr Lownie says he got no sense of any appetite to reintroduce Prince Andrew into public life while doing his research.
He said “I don’t think he has any public future. I would say his private future is pretty limited too. I mean, he lives in Royal Lodge, he plays golf, watches TV, and presumably sees his grandchildren … he’s living the life of a retired man.”
The book issue comes as a new YouGov report found that he remains the most unpopular royal in the country, with 87% of people having a negative view of him. According to the survey, just 5% of people have a favourable view of the Duke of York.
The poll also found the royals are less popular with a younger audience.
Only 36% of 18 to 24-years-olds believe the monarchy is good for the country, compared with about 60% of Britons overall.
The generational difference is underlined given 81% of over-65s think Britain should continue to have a monarchy, but this falls with each age group to just 41% of 18 to 24s.

World condemns Israeli attack that killed five Al Jazeera journalists
Media rights groups and the United Nations has condemned Israel’s attack in Gaza that killed six journalists, including correspondent Anas al-Sharif.
The journalists who happen to work for Al Jazeera were killed in an Israeli air strike on Sunday, an act which the UN calls a grave breach of international law.
Israel’s military confirms it targeted Anas al-Sharif, alleging, without proof, that Sharif had served as the head of a terrorist cell in Hamas.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer said through a spokesman that the UK government was “gravely concerned” and called for an independent investigation. He stated that Israel should ensure journalists can work safely and report without fear.
The funerals of Sharif, fellow Al Jazeera correspondent Mohammed Qreiqeh, journalist Mohammad al-Khaldi and cameramen Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Moamen Aliwa took place on Monday following the targeted missile strike on their tent at al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City.
The Foreign Press Association said it was outraged by the targeted killing. It said the Israeli military had repeatedly labelled Palestinian journalists “as militants, often without verifiable evidence”.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said it was appalled by the attack and that Israel had failed to provide evidence to back up its allegations against Palestinian journalists.
“Israel has a longstanding, documented pattern of accusing journalists of being terrorists without providing any credible proof,” the organisation added.
The Israeli military has suggested it has documents found in Gaza that confirmed Sharif belonged to Hamas.
It said these include “personnel rosters, lists of terrorist training courses, phone directories and salary documents”.
The only materials that have been released for publication are screenshots of spreadsheets apparently listing Hamas operatives from the northern Gaza Strip, noting injuries to Hamas operatives, and a section of what is said to be a phone directory for the armed group’s East Jabalia battalion.
No Israeli explanation has so far been given for the killing of the entire Al Jazeera news crew.
CPJ says at least 186 journalists have been killed since the start of Israel’s military offensive in Gaza in October 2023.
The Israeli government does not allow international news organisations into Gaza to report freely, so many outlets rely on Gaza-based reporters for coverage.
Anas al-Sharif was a household name who had millions of followers online.
